Exporting sea freight

Simply well arranged with The Freight Hero

When you enter the international market, you have to deal with exporting your trade goods. To secure a strong position on the foreign market, many different matters come into play, with which we at The Freight Hero can help you. Depending on the type of goods or the final destination of your goods, you can choose sea freight or air freight

Legislation and risks

Exporting goods also brings laws and regulations into the picture. For exporting goods within the European Union, EU legislation applies. Exporting to other countries leads to additional laws and tax legislation. When exporting goods there are always risks. Your goods can arrive damaged, demurrage can occur and non-payment can arise. Finally, there are always costs for shipping containers. These costs can vary widely. At The Freight Hero we fully take care of your export and you are assured of affordable sea freight rates. Feel free to get in contact with us to discuss the possibilities for your export.

Letter of Credit

Exporting goods entails risks. There is always a chance that customers do not pay on time or do not pay at all. Large (custom) orders bring additional risks with them, because you have no certainty that your goods will actually be accepted. Often an advance payment is not possible. Yet there are other options so that we can limit the risks of your export. Think of a payment guarantee, a trade credit insurance or a Letter of Credit. A Letter of Credit is nothing more than a payment method whereby you as an exporter receive certainty of payment for the delivery. The bank acts as guarantor for this. This does mean, however, that the buyer only has to pay once they are certain that the delivery is on its way to them.

Incoterms

It can happen that a shipment of goods is damaged en route or delivered too late, and this can have unpleasant consequences. That is why we recommend using the standard international delivery terms laid down in the incoterms. These set out the responsibilities of the buyer and seller. This way you can determine what your transport risk is and how you want to insure it. We also recommend using goods transport insurance. You can easily arrange this with us.

Foreign currency

When trading outside the EU you may have to deal with foreign currencies. This is important to take into account because it affects sea freight rates. The exchange ratios between the euro and foreign currencies fluctuate continuously throughout the day. For example, if you do business in China, you have to deal with exchange rate changes between the Euro and the Chinese Yuan. This entails risks that can work in your favour, but also to your disadvantage. To create more certainty for your company, you can manage currency risks using a number of well-known currency risk products. Think of a currency clause in the quote, a forward currency transaction or a currency option. By using these currency risk products you protect yourself against unfavourable exchange rate developments in the future.
