FENEX: The Dutch organisation for forwarding and logistics
A safeguarding of quality, knowledge and skill
The Freight Hero is a member of the FENEX (Federation of Dutch Forwarders). This trade organisation for the forwarding sector, which aims to strengthen the (national and international) position of the Dutch forwarder, provides training, advice and information. There are good contacts with the Dutch and European authorities, through which decision-making in the sector can be influenced. Forwarders can become members under conditions. Membership furthermore means that the members of FENEX are members of the FENEX Guarantee Fund. Members of FENEX act as guarantors for each other.
Key role in logistics
FENEX members play a key role within the logistics chain, which is subject to continuous change due to increasingly complex laws and regulations and more and more digital globalisation. Safety, sustainability and the labour market place higher demands on the forwarder. FENEX members have a head start in the sector. The FENEX is part of Transport en Logistiek Nederland, the business organisation for the Transport and Logistics Sector.
Forwarding conditions
The FENEX has developed the Dutch Forwarding Conditions, or FENEX conditions. These General Terms and Conditions apply to the services that the forwarder carries out and ensure a balance of rights and responsibilities between the parties involved. In addition to the provisions such as, among others, liability, the FENEX offers a dispute settlement for resolving conflicts between forwarder and customer.
The forwarder
The forwarder is a party that, on behalf of the cargo interested party, transports a freight over land, water and/or air. The forwarder acts as an intermediary and arranges and organises the transport tasks. That is what we at The Freight Hero are specialised in.
FIATA
In an international context, the FENEX has united in the FIATA: the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association, established in Zurich, Switzerland. The Fenex and FIATA make transport documents available.

- For sea freight transport a Bill of Lading
- For air freight an Air Waybill
The document makes clear that the forwarder has received the products for the purpose of the transport. It also indicates which party has ownership.
