New Customs System AGS

On May 1, 2016, Dutch Customs officially shut down the 25-year-old Sagitta Import declaration system. Companies that had not yet switched to the new AGS (AanGifteSysteem) system were given a final grace period until June 1. The rollout of AGS had already been delayed multiple times due to performance issues, but no further postponements were allowed.

Sagitta Import: The Legacy System

Sagitta Invoer was the platform used by companies to declare goods imported into the Netherlands or other EU countries from outside the European Union. After 25 years in operation, the system reached its limits. It caused logistical delaysand no longer complied with the EU Customs Code (UCC). Additionally, it lacked the flexibility needed to quickly implement new customs regulations.

AGS Import: The Modern Replacement

To submit declarations under the new AGS system, companies now use updated declaration software. After a long rollout period, AGS is now fully operational, and customs declarations are processed using this new and modernized system.
